Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series called the “Prairie Winds Adventure Trail” developed by volunteers of the Canadian Badlands Geocaching Association. Enjoy the hidden secrets of Southern Alberta by getting off the beaten trail to sites seldom visited, scenic views and historic sites and buildings. Prairies are not flat and there is a reason for calling our trail “Prairie Winds”.

There may be other caches in the area.

This cache is hidden in the small community of Wrentham which was named by the C.P.R. (Canadian Pacific Railway) after the village of Wrentham in Suffolk, England. As with any small, rural community the residents need somewhere to meet and something to do, especially in the winter. In the 1960’s & 1970’s there was a real interest in curling and even the smallest communities had their own rink because curling is a sport that all ages can play all winter long. Bonspiels of all kinds attracted teams from other places for friendly competition as well. During the winter months, the curling rink was the hub of all activity and with the community hall attached to the rink, banquets and dances would also be very popular. In Wrentham, curling was so important that they even named a street “Curling Street”. When you reach the cache you will be on “Curling Street”.
