Geocache Description:

Wanted!! Geocachers to act as Shepherds for the Comisiwn Coedwigaeth Cymru (Forestry Commission Wales)to Geomuggles.

The Coed y Myndd Forest District (part of Forestry Commission Wales)is currently one of the pioneering areas within the FC regarding the placement of geocaches on their land. They believe that Geocaching is an appropriate activity to be promoted on land managed by them, within approporiate controls, and are keen to introduce Geocaching to the wider public in partnership with the users of Geocaching.com.

To this aim they have decided to place two introduction caches, to introduce Geocaching. These caches will be linked to a Tent and Outdoor Show to be held, on the field in the centre of Betws y Coed, by Cotswold Outdoor, who are sponsoring the caches and making GPSr's available during the event. The event will run over the May Bank Holiday 29th, 30th and 31st.

The staff of the Gwydr Uchaf office who are organising these caches, are looking for members of the geocaching community, who are prepared to attend the show and act as Shepherds and take anyone who is interested out to the caches, showing them the ropes and giving them a taste of Geocaching. To claim a find all you have to do is just attend and shepherd a geomuggle to a cache.

Anyone attending is advised to bring a set of waterproofs!

For more information on the forests in the Betws y Coed area, visit http://www.forestry.gov.uk/website/recreation.nsf/LUWebDocsByKey/WalesConwyNoForestGwydyrGwydyrUchaf

Dependant on the success of this event, they would be interested in holding a second Geocaching Event later on in the year. At this event it is my hope to get Area Managers, and Recreation Rangers from other FC areas to attend. Introducing them to Geocaching and hopefully opening other FC areas to Geocaching.
