Retired: All the graves have been moved to the new College Station Field of Honor Cemetery. This was the third or fourth time they have moved. I hope that they have finally found a pernament resting spot. RIP

Geocache Description:

You can park within 10' of cache. Container is waterproof match holder. This is a log only cache, bring your own pen.

This is a small, little known cemetery that until recently was fenced and covered with weeds and brush. The fence has been taken down and the area cleaned up revealing eight tombstones. The most prominent being: Lafayette Lumpkin Foster President July 1, 1898-Dec. 2, 1901 Born: Cummings, Georgia; Nov. 17, 1851 Died: Dallas, Texas; Dec. 2, 1901; buried in College Station, Texas Member of state Legislature, state commissioner of agriculture. Elected president of A & M College on June 7, 1898, and by agreement with the Board of Directors set the effective date as July 1, 1898. Served until his death on Dec. 2, 1901. President Foster was buried in the College Cemetery, a small burial plot which was originally on the site where Duncan Hall is now located. His remains and those of several others were moved in late 1938 or early 1939 to their present location on University property.
