This cache is located at The Field Lab (see above short description for details on how to contact landowner). Drive approximately 61 miles south of Alpine, TX on Hwy 118 (on your way to Big Bend!). At that point you will see a large Terlingua Ranch sign on your left as well as The Grub Shack. The Field Lab is located 2.5 miles from there. However, do not proceed without contacting landowner John Wells first. See the Chihuahuan desert's finest; in far west Texas, the most southern tip of Brewster County, you're almost there. Note the unique geology of this desert ecosystem. A collection of
rare plants, threatened reptiles and a 23 y/o spotted roan longhorn that made the N.Y. Times. His email: lifeoffthegrid@yahoo.com. Look around, his place and the surrounding hills are geological wonders with plant life that simply will not grow anywhere else!
