Uninterrupted view of three volcanoes (Ruapehu, Ngaurahoe, Tongariro)
On sideroad off SH1. Close to the road but watch your step carefully in winter as the ground could be boggy or covered in snow.
Please photograph the three volcanoes and upload with your log. This will create a gallery of images showing them in their 1000 different guises every year. (Note: From 12 Feb 2012 this cache no longer contains a camera due to the poor quality of instant cameras for landscape photos)
The original ammo box disappeared in Jan 2018 and has been replaced with a 3-litre plastic container. The log-book is in a small container inside so it's easy to locate. Please ensure you re-attach the cache to the fastening clip as this area gets very windy.
This cache has plenty of room for large and small swaps, so go ahead and trade something.
