Gunpowder Falls State Park is only open from dawn to dusk. Please respect park hours.
As I was walking along this trail, I was shocked by the amount of briars that abound here. I have no doubt that this is the nursery used to grow briars to transplant into other sections of Maryland State Parks. OK, maybe that's a stretch but you'll have to go through some briars to get to this one. When we got there, my daughter found the spot for this hide. You'll see a ton of "shelf fungi" right next to the cache. They are related to mushrooms and are commonly called "conks". Oh, and you'll definitely see why she chose that name for the cache.
I usually take the dry route from the trail to check on this. And no, there is no briar-free way to get the. Sorry.
MD DNR permission has been granted for the placement of this cache.
