Geocache Description:

Please ignore the above positions, they only tell you this cache is located somewhere in Vancouver Island, or the surrounding area.

THIS IS A COMPLEX CACHE CONTAINING:

* MORE THAN A $1,000 CASH
* A BRAND NEW GARMIN 76S, AND CARRYING CASE
* A BOOK 'GPS MADE EASY' By Lawrence Latham
* AN AURORA HEADLIGHT, or the equivalent
* A PAIR OF BUSHNELL BINOCULARS
* TWO FRS RADIOS
* A MINI LEATHERMAN TOOL, or the equivalent
* CD'S
* OTHER EXCITING ITEMS!!!
* A $150.00 PELICAN WATERPROOF CASE TO HOLD THESE ITEMS

A regular cache will also be found at this cache site, for runner's up to enjoy. You will get information on this cache a bit at a time.

The first bit of information appears below:

Every few days or less, and at random times, we will give more information on this page.

There will be UP TO twelve bits of information you will be given to complete the information you require to get to this cache! At any time we'll say that "this is the final bit of information you will require". Then YOU KNOW THE DRILL, GANG - it's ACTION STATIONS!! Will YOU be the first TO THIS CACHE?

REMEMBER TO ALWAYS CARRY SURVIVAL GEAR, "WATER", extra batteries, compass, altimeter, measuring device, flashlight, gloves, etc.

Here's YOUR FIRST CLUE:

1) Go to 466661 East, and 5370484 North. Look for a GPS Tag inside an area surrounded by rock. What is the GPS Tag number?

2) Go to the Old Mill Community park in Shawinigan Lake. Go to the lookout (wharf) in this park that overlooks Shawinigan Lake. Walk out onto the lookout (wharf) as far as you can (it has wood decking and a railing). Stand on the Northwest corner of the end the wharf. Look out into the lake on a compass bearing of 266 degrees True (set compass declination to 19 degrees East). You will see a group of abandoned pilings. What is the distance from the Northwest corner of the lookout (wharf) to the pilings?

3) Go to the bench mark at the old Gonzales Hill weather station in Victoria. Sight approx. 16 degrees True (compass declination 19 degrees East). In the distance, you will see two churches. Find the one on the left with the light green steeple, when viewed from the Gonzales Hill bench mark. Determine the distance from the benchmark, to the church steeple in meters (All Team KFWB GPS caches presume meters, unless advised otherwise).

4) How far West (in meters) and how far North (in meters) would you have to go FROM THE SUMMITS OF MOUNT TOLMIE TO MOUNT DOUGLAS (Victoria, B.C.), presuming the world is round (great circle route)?

5) Locate the Province of British Columbia Geodetic control marker on Observatory Hill (Victoria, B.C.). Locate the position of the Geodetic control marker on Mill Hill. (Victoria) It has a glue like substance around it - it's actually a small pin, or 'bolt'. What is the distance in meters from Observatory Hill going West to Mill Hill, and going South to Mill Hill, presuming the world is a sphere?

6) a) Go to 479435 East - 5366392 North. What is the GPS Tag number that is glued to rock?

b) Go to 477701 East - 5370135 North. What is the GPS Tag number that is glued to rock?

c) Presuming a round world, and going from a) to b) above, what is the distance in meters? What is the True compass bearing going from a) to b) to the nearest degree?

7) THIS UTM IS APPROXIMATE ONLY - (to add to the excitement!)

Go to 477661 East 5369299 North.

Look for a GPS TAG glued to rock - WHAT IS THE TAG NUMBER? (This TAG is above high water. It is not tidal.
LOOK CAREFULLY, THE AREA IT IS ON IS A BIT STEEP...

8) Look for a GPS TAG attached to a tree at approximately 460295 East 5376468 North. What is the GPS TAG NUMBER?

9) What is the GPS TAG NUMBER at 343751 East and 5474185 North attached to a man made object?

Please note, on these high dollar contests, with many things for you to consider, we will be allowing a grace period for everyone to get things figured out. We'll then most likely have one or two last clues, the morning we release the final details.

We'll most likely release the FINAL BITS OF INFORMATION AND GIVE YOU THE 'GREEN LIGHT' ON A SUNDAY MORNING.

We are aware of the fact that inaccuracies will build up, so we'll place the cache in an area that makes sense.

We'll most likely mark an object with flagging tape, or paint, so you can have something you can identify. Then a short distance from this object, have the actual CACHE!

ATTENTION GEOCACHERS!!! For this cache, (BOLD ENDURANCE GEOCACHE),you MUST have an FRS (Family Radio Service) RADIO. You can get these at Future Shop, London Drugs, etc. It must be capable of tuning in to Channel 14, subchannel 38. You will be advised of where, and when to go for special messages. We will advise you in advance, on this cache page. ****(THE USE OF FRS RADIOS MAY NOW NOT BE REQUIRED, STAY TUNED FOR FUTURE UPDATE).

NOTE: LOOK OUT FOR THE UPCOMING CACHE - "A WATCHER'S POINT OF VIEW".

WE HAVE NOTED THAT SEVERAL CACHERS WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SIMPLE CACHES WITHOUT MONEY OR OBJECTS OF VALUE; SO WE ARE PLACING SEVERAL CACHES IN VERY INTRESTING SCENIC LOCATIONS THAT CONTAIN ONLY A LOG BOOK AND PEN.
