On the 12th of September, a CITO
(Cash In Trash Out) event will be held in Shikinejima Island, a
small island which is 2.5 hours far away by a speed ferry from
Tokyo Bay, Japan.
Shikinejima Island (including
Niijima Island) is a natural island where you enjoy beautiful blue
oceans, green forests, natural hot-spring baths, tasty local "Sake"
(drink) and lovely local people.
This is a rare and precious event
since this will be the first-ever CITO event held in Japan and this
event is "officially" supported by the Chamber of Commerce and
Industry of Niijima-Shikinejima Islands.
So the participants can "seek and
hide" the geo-caches officially and proudly, and even they will be
appreciated by local people who know you are cleaning the island
and creating a treasure island on
Shikinejima! |
It is a CITO event, so the
participants are expected to collect all litters on the way of
geocaching.
Plus, the Chamber welcomes all
geocachers to hide at least one cache in the island and make this
island to be a real treasure island!
This event does not end just as a
CITO. The CITO event is sandwiched by several other events
including receptions (parties), sight-seeing, activities and
more! So you can mingle with not only geocachers but also
non-geocachers (including surfers, local fishermen, etc.) who
attend some events.
For this event, the Chamber of
Commerce and Industry established a coordinating office named
"Association for Geo-Events in Niijima-Shikinejima Islands"
(AGENSI: pronounced as "agency"), which helps all geocachers and
non-geocachers to enjoy the events.
The official web-site of this
event is opened, so please visit by clicking this or enter
http://geoland.web.fc2.com
The meeting point is "Shikinejima
Sougou Kaihatsu Centre" (Shikinejima Island Development Center),
but there is a possibility to change.
So please update yourself by this
page or the event web-site before going to the island.
Plus, it is recommended to book
the speed ferry if you go on the event day (Sep. 12, Saturday) as
soon as you plan. (Maybe, it's going to be full.)

Finally, AGENSI would like to know
how many geocachers will come along for organizing some events, so
please write log in this page if you plan to
participate.
AGENSI and local people of
Shikinejima Island welcome you all !
See you soon.
