The bench is gone but the Shady Bench cache lives on. The following is the original description written by Lynx1 and the Hunter back in 2002 when this cache was placed. _________________________________________________________________________
The cache is hidden in Preservation Park, Guelph and not far from the trail. You can park in a small plaza to the left of the trail entrance or at the Hanlon Creek Parking lot across the street on Kortright Rd. Please note: The bench is no longer standing but parts can be seen when it's not covered in snow. This is our first cache with a travel bug. We picked up the tag for the bug from the “ Happy Cache #1 “ by Trimbles Trek, thanks for the new adventure. Please keep the travel bug “ Stretch Monkey “ in the Guelph area. Give your coordinates in your log, and the type of GPS you have. Thanks. The cache is in a green ammo box with “ Geocache “ written on it. Contents of cache when placed: - Travel Bug: Stretch Monkey - Camera to take your picture - Logicom Yellow Ball - Blue bag - Magnifying glass - Scottish Kilt purse - Twin Black Bears - Toy Car - Cat - Log Book ,pen , pencil Special cache item: Groundspeak Travel Bug in the cache! We're asking that you place it in a NEW CACHE, somewhere in or around Guelph. This way, you'll have the pleasure of creating and hiding a new cache, AND sending a the Travel Bug out to see the world! And, Guelph gets another local cache for all to enjoy. If you can’t comply with our request, PLEASE leave the Travel Bug for the next group.
