The Arethusa was started by Lord Shaftesbury as a series of ships which would take boys as young as 8 and train them to be sailors either for the navy or the merchant navy.

These boys were predominantly either orphans or from homes which could not support their children.

In all their were 3 ships owned by Shaftesbury Homes.

The 3rd and final ship was bought in 1918 and was called the Peking, but was re-named Arethusa III. In 1974 she was sold and now sits in south street seaport, New York.

The Arethusa Venture Centre is a charity and still part of Shaftesbury Homes (re-named Shaftesbury Young People). It gives young people an experience of the outdoors and the teamwork and lifeskills, which can be learnt, from these types of activities.

You are looking for a magnetic nano.
