A modern day living ghost town. This town offers a look back to the
history of the gold rush.
Randsburg, Ca. is located at an elevation of 3500ft. According to
Randsburg General Store, Randsburg's history began April 25, 1895
when three prospectors hit gold ore and staked their claim. The
town has a rich history which includes the Yellow Aster mine still
in operation today. The town is proud of their authentic jail, 100
year old soda fountain, and General store which exists today as it
did at the turn of the century. While in the town, be sure to grab
a bite to eat at the White House saloon, and have a chocolate malt
at the General Store. There are many antique stores in and around
the area.
I was raised in Ridgecrest and have loved the scenery in and
around Randsburg/Red Mountain area. This little town is an
excellent break from the drive to or from Mammoth, and is an
excellent stop on a cross-country motorcycle trip. I have ridden my
dirt bike into the town with no problem. As long as you are
respectful of the inhabitants and the surroundings the community
doesn't seem to mind. Please write and let me know what you think.
Dana P.S. A picture is not required, but I have enjoyed the
contributions that people are submitting of different pieces of the
town.

February 6 by this2shalpas (100 found) Didn't realize this was a virtual cache until we had looked everywhere in front of the General Store for a microcache (in the pouring rain, mind you!). Learn something new EVERY day. Enjoyed visiting two antique shops...the rest were closed...bummer for a rainy Saturday afternoon, but had a great lunch at the General Store.

January 10 by horwitzvta (248 found) Spent 2 nights at the Cottage Inn in Randsburg as our base for 4WD'ing in the El Paso Mountains to the north. Drove from Sheep Spring to Burro Schmidt Tunnel to Bickel Camp to Holly Ash Mine. This town is a great place to wander around. TFTVC!

January 7 by wor!dw!de (228 found) A fun and historic spot out on the trail. Stopped in and had some potato salad and a chocolate malt, mmm, mmm good. Karen and the locals at the General store were very friendly and informative about this tiny mining town. TFTVC and nice little history lesson.
