A modern day living ghost town. This town offers a look back to the history of the gold rush.

Randsburg, Ca. is located at an elevation of 3500ft. According to Randsburg General Store, Randsburg's history began April 25, 1895 when three prospectors hit gold ore and staked their claim. The town has a rich history which includes the Yellow Aster mine still in operation today. The town is proud of their authentic jail, 100 year old soda fountain, and General store which exists today as it did at the turn of the century. While in the town, be sure to grab a bite to eat at the White House saloon, and have a chocolate malt at the General Store. There are many antique stores in and around the area.

I was raised in Ridgecrest and have loved the scenery in and around Randsburg/Red Mountain area. This little town is an excellent break from the drive to or from Mammoth, and is an excellent stop on a cross-country motorcycle trip. I have ridden my dirt bike into the town with no problem. As long as you are respectful of the inhabitants and the surroundings the community doesn't seem to mind. Please write and let me know what you think. Dana P.S. A picture is not required, but I have enjoyed the contributions that people are submitting of different pieces of the town.

I have had mining claims in the area for over 15 years and have driven through town, but hadnt gotten out to visit any of the stores. My friend SORANCH had to have a Lime Fizzy.

Geo fever was right. I lovethe old ice cream soda fountains. I just had to have one. We were in the minority: off roaders and hunters, then here we are the wimpy geocachers.
