This cache will take you about 5 miles overall.
There are 5 stages & the last requires you to navigate by
treasure map from the final coordinates.
Be aware that the routes traveled can be heavy with traffic on
weekends due to proximity to the mall.
The final area can get muddy after hard rains.
If you are looking at this cache on a PDA, you may not be able to
see everything as the story is quite long and there is a map in a
GIF format embedded on the pa
So you finally found a break in your busy work schedule and
convinced your boss that he could do without you for a week or two?
You gather some items and head out to Bermuda for some sun and
relaxation.
After some scuba and tanning on the beach all day, you decide to
visit a local drinking establishment for a nice big margarita.
The bar is quite busy and you decide to find a more peaceful table
near the back. As you sit sipping on your second margarita, you
can't help but overhearing the increasingly louder and louder
argument going on at the next table.
"I'm telling you Johnny, that old fisherman wasn't just talking
crazytalk. There really was a map!"
"Aw Mark, he was nuttier than that new drink that Starbucks has
out. He just liked spewing out stories to get attention from young
deckhands like you."
"Well we may never know if his great grandaddy was a pirate and he
is gone now. But before he died he told me where the map was. I
found it just where he said and it looks really old."
"Let me see that. Naw, it's just something he drew to make his
crazy stories seem legit. It's just trash."
You notice Johnny toss the map in a nearby wastebasket and proceed
to verbally bash Mark about how he is always falling victim to
scams and telemarketers. They argue a little more and get up and
leave.
You toss some money on your table for the drinks and casually
snatch the map from the wastebasket as you walk toward the door.
Back in your hotel room, you look closely at the map.
The map looks like a typical treasure map you'd see in the movies,
with the dotted line and 'X' marks the spot.
On the back of the map is some information that you recognize as
map coordinates. Unfortunately some of the coords are missing as
they have been rubbed off or torn. You'll have to check around
tomorrow to find out more about this map. You drift off to sleep
recalling the conversation between Johnny and Mark.
The next day, you investigate around and find out that there are
stories of lost pirate treasure and a lost map. It seems you may
just have an adventure on your hands.
You proceed to the first coords to begin your journey.
At the first coords, you find a shipyard with a large sailing ship
docked. This ship should do for your journey as it has ___ masts to
hold sails to catch alot of wind. It is doubtful that you'll have
troubles on your journey, but ___ cannons would put fear in anyone
you might encounter.
You look at the second set of coords on the back of the map and
fill in the blanks:
N33 56.9_3 where _ is the # of cannons + # of masts
W84 07.6_3 where _ is the # of masts
After working out the fees for use of the ship, you sail off to the
next set of coords.
You arrive at the Bahamas for supplies and land on a small thin
island. You make a note of the number of palm trees on the narrow
island and fill in the next set of coords on the back of the map:
N33 56.448
W84 07.4_5 where _ is the # of palm trees
After getting underway again, you decide that you could use a
bigger crew for your trip as you determine that it seems that the
treasure is further away than you originally thought.
It is now evening and you will need the "stars" to navigate your
way now. You see that there are alot of "stars" so how do you find
the one you need? (editors note: just search for the caches
namesake and you'll have the right star)
So now you have a crew that'd make Capt'n Jack Sparrow proud. You
head off to find the treasure. However, the trip is long and
luckily you got the coordinates for a place that can help you get
your vessel ship-shape.
At the location, you find the place is packed with ships. You tie
up to one of the pilings at the end of the place.
How many single pilings are there on the end?
A = _ # pilings on end minus 1
B = _ # pilings on end
C = _ # pilings on end minus 2
You get the supplies and head out.
You look again at the back of the map and see that you have the
information needed for the final coords:
N33 55.72A
W84 11.1BC
You and your crew arrive at the hidden pirate's cove and dock the
ship. After exploring the lagoon, you get to the coords and look at
the drawn map.
It looks like you'll have to walk the plank (if you're scared or
the plank is wet, find an alternate nearby) and follow the creek to
the left until you come to a strange cave with a large twisted tree
in front of it. You're almost there and your palms are sweating
from the excitement.
You look and follow the dotted line about 10 paces between the two
towering trees (both trees have fallen) to the treasure between
some rocks.
You've done it! You've found the lost pirate treasure!
The chest is full of treasures!
You take your fill of the booty and leave some there in case
someone else decides to take on such an adventure. Besides, you
wouldn't want to break any rules and have a pirate curse on you
now, would you?
I hope you enjoyed the adventure.
