Mt. Dumplin Lookout Traditional Geocache
Dosido: I went up to hunt for the cache - moved per the note - and had no luck finding it. Thanks to all who made the trek up Mt. Dumplin to enjoy the view! Too bad I won't get a chance to get the pictures developed of all those who found it.

This cache is located close to the top of Mt. Dumplin, in Palmer, MA. Round trip hike if taking the leisurely route would be about 1.2 miles. The views are spectacular for such a short hike!
Upon starting out the geocacher has a choice to make - either of two paths to the top of Mt. Dumplin. A quick 0.13 mile bushwhack or a nice easy 0.6 mile hike around to the back of the mountain and along the ridge. If you choose to do the shorter hike up - as I did twice during the day I placed the cache - beware that your lungs will definitely know what you are up to! The steep method is not recommended for small children or in icy or wet conditions. The longer hike is a nice gentle trail leading to the top - suitable for all comers. The cache you are seeking is a .50 cal ammo box. Directions: Parking and trailhead are at N42 10.311 W072 20.314 - there is room to pull off to the side of the road. If taking the leisurely route - take the obvious trail and stay left at all intersections. If taking the steep bushwhacking route - well, you know what to do! Note: Please wear blaze orange during hunting season, as this area is popular with hunters.
