Bolan is a tiny, tiny town in the east-central part of Worth County. Established in 1887, Bolan was named for the railroad master Matt Bolan, who was in charge when the Chicago Great Western Railroad was constructed in the area in 1886. The town's most famous residents are likely those who lived there in 1989 when the entire population (numbering 16 at the time) appeared on "Late Night With David Letterman."

While not officially a town, the community still gathers and holds events that many official towns do not. That includes the annual Bolan Fall Market and annual Bolan Bike and Tractor Rides.

Bolan's major business is also it's central historic landmark. The Bolan Schoolhouse Store operates from the former Barton No. 2 Schoolhouse.

A small park depicting the old railroad station and a miniature train is where the cache is located. The cache is in a small film canister.
