Otaki Forks is 19km inland from Otaki township The easies turn-off
from State Highway 1 is at Otaki Gorge Road, just south of the
State Highway 1 bridge over the Otaki River. The last 5km of the
Otaki Gorge Road is unsealed, narrow and windy – please drive
carefully.
For the record I crossed this bridge many times as a child and I
hold my breath and freak each time I cross this bridge comes from a
very early childhood memory. I am sure my father has something to
do with freaking me out about this bridge falling down or the
wheels of the car going thru the wood as its rotten is related to
him.
It is my scary bridge!
