Summit Creek Falls - we think! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Mayfly22: Another one bites the dust! I guess there is something about an ammo can that makes one want to appropriate it. We will put one in the vicinity.

Geocache Description:

A relatively easy hike to the top of a hidden waterfall.

******Parking at N45 41.409 W121 43.335**********This all started when we were hiking on the Old Wagon Road across Shellrock Mt. We got to the east end of it and were sure we could hear a waterfall but we couldn't see it. It took two more trips but we finally found it.You can only get to this from the eastbound side of I-84. If you are coming from Hood River area you will need to go to the Wyeth exit (exit 51) to turn around. The parking is 2.3 miles east of Wyeth. At the parking coords there is a service road with quite a bit of parking but it is NOT a freeway exit. It can come up on you fast so be ready. Head uphill around the gate and when you get to the crossroads go uphill again. Follow the road west under the powerlines. After about a 1/4 mile the road will head left into the woods. Follow the road and GPS to the pretty little creek. You will need to cross the creek for the cache but you should be able to find enough stepping stones. It looks kind of dangerous to get to the bottom of the falls so be very careful if you have that in mind. Enjoy the pretty creek and the view across the river. There are lots of goodies in the cache as well as the Robo Kitty TB. The Mossy Road cache - GCKFTT is attainable from this same parking spot.

For you "loopers" this cache is also available from GCKG4N -Old Wagon Road. See write up for GCKG4N.
