Geocache Description:

Cache is located very close to the trail past the lighthouse. The trail is accessible from near the Church.

Another cache along the Discovery Trail, this cache is located near the Kings Cove Lighthouse on the Kings Cove Lighthouse Trail. Cachers will be rewarded by a walk through meadows and a tree lined path, with frequent panaramic views of the surrounding Bonavista Bay. You are encouraged to take some time to read some of the plaques and signs in the various vantage points along the way. You will learn a little about the various types of whales which may be seen, as well as some history of the Batterton family, who were the lighthouse keepers for over 60 years. The path also takes you through Pat Murphy’s Meadow, the subject of a poem by the late John Martin Devine, a native of King’s Cove. This poem was eventually turned into a song.

As you look out over the Bay from the various vantage points, you may see whales, or small boats from the area. On a clear day you can see the community of Bonavista in the distance.
