How Geocaching Works
This is a traditional cache located in Tomlinson Run State Park. The park is open year round from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The cache is located along the Laurel Trail, blazed dark blue. The trail is hard packed earth, excellent for hiking. No hunting is permitted in the park, so it's a great place to hike during hunting season. There is a pull off on Washington School Road, opposite the Laurel Trailhead which has enough room for 2 - 3 cars.
As you hike the trail, you will come to a double blaze, which marks the split in the Laurel Trail. Take the trail on your left. While I was out hiking this trail, I decided to stop for a little breather at this location. The large depression in the rock makes a great natural seat, and as I was having a snack and watching the stream flow by I thought that it would make a great location for a cache. Nothing fancy, just a pleasant round trip hike of slightly over 1.25 miles. If you like a challenge, search for a while before you decode the hint. You’re looking for a camouflaged 16 cup Sterlite container, approximately 8 x 9 x 6 inches. When I placed the cache, the satellite estimated accuracy was +/- 30 feet, and the reception can be spotty in this area, so the hint is very specific.
Enjoy the hike!
