I look out of my office window everyday at this section of the Snake. On the eastern banks sits the IF Greenbelt Trail where it enters Freeman Park. Often out on runs and geocaching, I am surprised by the amount of trash that can be found here, especially the unbelievable amount of old rusted cans.
So, I would like to invite other cachers to join me in helping pick up trash on the Trail from N 43 30.418 W 112 03.000 to N 43 30.720 W 112 03.086. That will bring us into the southern end of Freeman Park. We can also collect trash from the creek bed that runs along there feeding the Snake.
At N 43 30.972 W 112 02.836 are some trash and recycling receptables where we will depsoit all the trash we collect. We will try to collect and segregate all recycable materials so that it can be deposited into the proper container when we are done.
We will start at 10:30am and should be able to do the whole stretch and some of the park/creek in about 90 minutes to 2 hours. All who attend earn a special Groundspeak CITO Weekend Souvenir.
I will bring trash bags for all. You should bring gloves, water (I will also try to bring extra drinking water but there is some available at fountains in the Park), sunscreen and hats (in the event we hit a nice day). I will also try and bring some snacks for everyone. When we are done, those that want to can meet at a restaurant of choice, maybe our local cacher's fish place, for some well-earned grub (everyone is responsible for their own lunch).
So please help me in making sure the Snake stays clean:
