Geocache Description:

Chihiro's Decision

Painter Iwasaki Chihiro who had kept drawing the child especially loved here.
Her mother's hometown was near Naraigawa river that flowed in the lower side when looking at here.
Her father's hometown was in the foot and Azusagawa of the Alps seen in the west.

Chihiro that lives in Tokyo evacuates it to the parent's family in the Matsumoto city because it lost the house in the air raid in 1945.
After the war ended, Chihiro sketched Alps and Utsukushigahara that climbed here.
Chihiro goes to Tokyo to learn the picture in the spring of 1946 after the decision to become a painter is done.
Chihiro was 27 years old.

Cache was set up near the monument connected to Iwasaki Chihiro.
Please look at the scenery that Chihiro sketched by all means.
There is no pen, and bring it, please.

子どもを描き続けた画家いわさきちひろは、ここをこよなく愛していました。
母方の岩崎家は、眼下に流れる奈良井川のほとりにあり、父方の倉科家は西にそびえるアルプスのふもと、旧梓川村にありました。

１９４５年、東京に住んでいたちひろは、東京大空襲で家を失い、松本市の実家に疎開します。
戦争が終わったとき、ちひろはここに登りアルプスや美ヶ原をスケッチし、ノートに次のような言葉を記しました。「国敗れて山河あり･･･私は六月にこの地にきたばかりでございますけれど、私の父を生み母を生みそだてた(いえ、もっと遠く限りない何代も前からの)本当の故郷なのです･･･」
ちひろは、画家として生きる決意をして１９４６年の春、絵を学ぶために上京します。
それはちひろが２７歳のときでした。

キャッシュは、いわさきちひろにちなんだモニュメントの近くに設置しました。
ちひろがスケッチした景色を是非眺めてみてください。
