Geocache Description:

Introduce a Muggle to Geocaching

This event is based at Carnfunnock Country Park, supported by the park rangers and organised by members of Geocaching Ireland - and open to all. This will be an unique event in that its primary aim is to introduce new people to Geocaching in an open and welcoming event. So we invite you all, seasoned and not so seasoned cachers to come along and help to share your passion for Geocaching with others.

It is planned to start the event with an open workshop introducing the basics of Geocaching and how to manage your caching life, but if you have something that you are not sure about why not come along and you should find someone to steer you in the right direction.

Following the opening session there will be a Geocaching Hunt around the park with a number of new caches available to find and log. Depending on the number of muggles interested in caching we will require help to guide them to their first
few finds. There may even be a few spot prizes on the day

The event will officially close with a BBQ where you can join together with friends and colleagues to share stories and tall tales of your caching experiences. There will be BBQ facilities available on site so bring along your own food and drink, plus anything else you need for your meal. There might even be a further few extra caches released after the meal.

12:30 - 13:30	Workshops in the main Visitor Centre
13:30 - 15:30	Geocaching Hunt around the main park
15:30 - 16:00	Prize giving in the main Visitor Centre
16:30	BBQ located beside the camping site
To claim the event you must sign the log book at the BBQ, but we would appreciate your support throughout the day.

Geocaching fast established itself as an adventurous outdoor activity that anyone regardless of age could enjoy. Geocaching celebrated 10 years of caching in 2010 and Geocaches can now be found in over 100 countries around the world. The event will include an introduction to Geocaching, the technology used and much, much more.

For those not familiar with a GPS, we will demonstrate the basic use of a GPS for Geocaching and provide all the necessary assistance to get you started. There will be a Geocache Hunt within the park demonstrating the different types of Geocache that can be found and the various levels of difficultly that can be used to hide a Geocache.

Price: Free event but booking is advisable as spaces are limited.
