The hike is, for the most part, up the entire way. The trail is well marked and should pose no problem for an experienced hiker. You can also come in farther north near Darmstatter Rd. See North Jersey Trails Map 21 for specifics. From the southern entrance, the hike is about three quarters of a mile to the top with about a 500 ft. altitude change. The view from the top is spectacular, take a moment to enjoy it.
The cache itself is in a clear plastic bucket-type container approximately six inches in diameter with a blue lid.
Getting to the cache requires a bit of scrambling, so be careful. There is an easier way, just look around.
Note: There was some question as to the "No Trespassing" Sign. According to a rep from the NY/NJ Trail Conference who spoke with security from the water commission, this area is open to hikers, just stay on the trail. The signs were originally put in place after 9/11.
