CITO at our Adopted City of Hickory Park and Rec. dept park
Geitner Park - Sunday Sept. 21 - 11am- 2pm
The idea is for cachers to help clean up parks (1.) because we can (2.) because positive PR is always a good thing and(3) City of Hickory and Catawba County Park and Rec. are PRO Caching, and allow us to place caches in their parks.
NC Foothills adopted all of the City of Hickory Parks (through the City of Hickory Park and Recreation Department) in 2005 in an effort to help keep the parks clean and enjoyable, along with the PR factor. We have for the past few years only been cleaning up Geitner as part of our obligation. We have done so well that Park and Rec approached us for help and asked if we would adopt all the parks. We chose to do so for another two year's. We pick a day, they pick a park.
For the remainder of 2008 (excluding the Picnic) all CITO's will be held at Geitner.
When we clean Geitner we also pick up on Jaycee and City Park at the same time since they are so close and on the Greenway, all three can be accessed by Bicycle, Roller blade etc.
In order for all Sunday events to go smoothly with lots of folks to help the Foothills event will Start at 11am on Sunday September 21, 2008. Hopefully this will allow some cachers to help out after church or at least make an effort to come out. It is a great way for all the newer cachers to meet the others in your area. Like mr007s and his 2000+ cache finds, Regnad Kcin, LtlJohn, HannahWCU, Snoopy and Woodstock, not to mention WrightsPhoto, mr007s, ChiefWings, FlyingPita and all the other die hard Terracachers out there.
We are obligated to 5 more CITO's the various parks over the next 2 years. Look for these about every 3 or 4 months.
As more information becomes available I will add to the page the Foothills Website. Please log a "Will Attend" as soon as possible so that we can get a better head count. If there are more than one in your caching party please give me and accurate head count. (Food Purchase depends on it)
We will have Food, Fun, Hard Work, 50/50 Raffle, and other prizes.

We have cleaned this park so many times that yes we are normally complete by 2PM. We usually eat around 12:30 or 1PM.
