Geocache Description:

"A long time ago, here in the little town of Vander, a terrible accident happened"....

LantzAng has always been one for history, and myself one for ghostly activity. We decided that there could be no better way to combine the two than with a night cache here in the historic and haunted town of Vander. Those of you who are older or just know your history probably know of the Vander Light. For those of you who do not, here's how it goes.

Somewhere around the early/mid 1800s, a man by the name of Archer Matthews was waiting on a late night train. He was the ticketmaster, and noticed that the train was running a little behind schedule. As he smoked his cigarette, he stood up and looked down the tracks in an attempt to see if the train was near. Seeing nothing in the distance, he decided to head back in the station. As he was turning around to face the building, Mr. Matthews heard an odd sound coming from the other side of the tracks. Startling him somewhat, he swung around with his lantern in hand to investigate. As he did so, he slipped and fell down onto the tracks head first. Upon contact, he was knocked out cold. Soon the train came thundering in the distance, and by the time the engineer saw Mr. Matthews's body on the tracks, it was too late. He was decapitated and killed instantly. From that day on, his ghost has been said to walk down the tracks equipped with his lantern in search of his missing head. Today, you can still see the light of his lantern in the very area where this cache is hidden.

This is a night cache at the location of this unfortunate accident, so obviously a flashlight is required...unless of course you can get Mr. Matthews to let you borrow his lantern...

You must attempt this cache at night, or else you will not be able to find. Some other equipment you may want to bring along includes:

-Spare batteries

-Notebook

-Camera

All further instructions will be provided to you at the listed coords. Come out and find this one only if you dare. Have fun finding this cache, and try not to get spooked by the "local".

a recent photograph of an adult and child. Possibly this area is home to more than one ghost now?
