On May 19, 2007 GBES Geocachers will present practical applications of geocaching for geocaching ‘newbies’ following their classroom lessons. (see below)
Event Coordinates are for the pizza place where we will finish up the day.
2 pm to 3:30 pm - Hidden Valley Regional Park:

Geocaching practice sessions for newbies utilizing the information learned in class (see below)
And a “mini” RALLY SCHOOL! Learn how to use the GPS receiver without using the Go To function. Also – learn the difference between abstract & offset waypoints.
4 pm – 6ish - 'Social gathering' at Mountain Mikes Pizza on Vassar St. for general Geocaching camaraderie!
And… to find out about NEVADA GEOCACHE DAY.

No cost Newbie classes at REI (class size limited to 50)

10:30AM-12 noon- GPS 101: a 1.5-hour introductory class on the use of a Garmin & Magellan GPS receiver. You are not required to have a GPS unit but if you do, bring it!
12 noon- 1:30PM- Geocaching 101: a 1.5-hour introductory class on Geocaching- getting started, basic rules & regulations, hiding & seeking a cache & logging a cache.
Watch for future GBES classes such as; map & compass use, leave no trace Geocaching, paperless caching, off road preparedness.
We need a few experienced Geocachers to mentor our new folks in the ‘hands on’ use of their GPS receivers at the park. Do we have any Garmin & Magellan volunteers?
