Geocache Description:

This is a relatively easy walk on a well defined trail system in a heavily wooded area with waterfalls and creek access. It's not necessary to leave the designated trails to locate the cache.

Sweet Creek Trail- 3 1/2 miles of easy to moderately difficult trails and 11 beautiful waterfalls on Sweet Creek are accessed by driving 11 miles south of Highway 126 at Mapleton, Oregon, on Sweet Creek Road. Trails can be accessed at the Homestead Trailhead and the Wagon Road Trailhead.

The Sweet Creek trail system takes hikers on a scenic journey along Sweet Creek, where water cascades down numerous waterfalls, offering a variety of opportunities for nature photographers, artists, and others interested in enjoying a unique outdoor experience.

Sweet Creek got its name from the Sweet Family who settled in this area in 1876. Here they logged timber, fished, and farmed the land. In 1884 Maria Sweet died and was buried on the homestead. Three years later, Zara Sweet, the patriarch of the family died, and was buried next to his wife. The surviving family members lived on Sweet Creek for many years after.

No pass required at this site.
