Situated on top of Winter Hill.
This cache is to CELEBRATE the life of my brother Will (William)
who lost his life while hangliding over these moors over 20yrs ago.
His friends still fly up here and if you are lucky you will see
them too. It is an awsome sight to watch them fly around the masts,
and I can now understand the perfect peace that he spoke of. He was
28 yrs old but probebly did more in his life than most of us would
have dared to do, I thought he was completly mad, even after all
these yrs I still do LOL. I know for a fact that Will would love
the thought of this cache, and if geocaching was around when he
was, there would be some stinkers of 5/5 caches that he would have
placed. We always thought of this place as top of the world when we
were kids, the views from here are fantastic. Blackpool Tower is
easily spotted and the mountains of Wales and Yorkshire, I have
even heard that you can see the Isle of Man, but I doubt it. Take
your binoculars with you and see what you can spot in the distance.
There are several ways to this cache but it involves some degree of
walking. You are not supposed to drive up to the mast, there are
warning signs. The weather up here can be very bad so please take
care and wrap up warm. The masts that are up there can interfere
with gps signals, I have even heard from a hanglider that his
remote central locking on his car will not work up there. "Life
should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid
in sideways - Screaming...WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO what a ride!" Celebrate
someones life not mourne it The cache is named not just for my
brother but to all the other angels that will fly around Winter
Hill for eternity.
