For example:

The Puzzle

Question: What date did shell1fish first qualify for this challenge?
Answer: mm/dd/yyyy = AB/CD/EFGH

The cache is located at
N   34° GH. (D-1) E (D)
W 118° CA. F (B+1) (H-1)

You can check your answer at Geochecker.com.

The Cache

After your Busy Day, come and relax on the short hike to the cache in the Lower Arroyo Park. The closest parking is at the Pasadena Roving Archers Range and Casting Club (N 34 08.425, W 118 10.038) off of Arroyo Blvd, and it's 0.20 miles to the cache one way on level ground. The cache is on the west side of the main water channel off the beaten path, but no bushwhacking is required. The posted coordinates for this cache (N 34 08.536, W 118 10.061) are a good place to leave the streamside trail. You are looking for an ammo can. Please rehide the cache well.

The Rules and Regulations

  • This Unknown (Mystery) cache does NOT count toward the six Cache Types needed for the Challenge.
  • There are no date restrictions for this Challenge. Previous finds DO count, so you may already qualify.
  • All cache types past, present, and future ARE allowed for this Challenge: Traditional, Multi-cache, Virtual, Letterbox Hybrid, Unknown (Mystery), Webcam, Wherigo, Earthcache, Event, CITO, Mega-Event, Project APE, Maze Adventure Exhibit, and Locationless (Reverse)

Well, we finally did our busy day today in conjunction with walking the arroyo series, but we didn't leave ourselves quite enough time or light to finish that series or to do this one at the end. Now that we've got the puzzle solved for this one and finally got the pre-reqs done, we'll be back soon to polish off the challenge.

This is our first challenge cache completed and found. We heard about and completed the OBDI Challenge on January 3, 2009, but it took us over a year to return to the area and make the find. There's plenty of SWAG to trade. Come one, come all and compete the challenge. Thanks Shell1fish for issuing the challenge.

Hey! I was surprised that I hadn't happened to have done this already. I did this yesterday on my way up to finish the Fizzy challenge - it took 9 hours and 366 miles! The Bookmark is public...
NOW to get back to the arroyo...
Whew!

OK! We feel so silly. Quilt Queen and I were in the area photographing the pre-Rose Parade festivities. Promising Shell1fish we would find this cache before our one-year anniversary of completing the Challenge, we loaded the coordinates and headed towards GZ. In our haste, we didn't realize the cache was NOT at those coordinates.

Duh! For the other cachers that repeat our bone-head move, there is an active bee hive at GZ. We'll try again soon.
