An ammo can in Dixie Canyon Park in Studio City.

It's a short walk from the trailhead to the 3rd bridge, the only bridge with a railing. A loop begins at that bridge. If you commence the loop by turning right at the bridge, the cache is approximately 3/4 of the way around the loop. It's about 30 feet up the eastern slope of the trail. The hike is tame except for the scramble up to the cache. There are two trees, with many fallen branches filling the space between them. The cache is hidden under rocks in a hollow at the base of the northern tree.

Shucks. I will try to get out there and place a new cache in a better spot.

Ditto on the cache. The leaves on the ground were beautiful and it was a nice surprise of a trail. Thanks!

It would appear that the ammo can is gone; I used my smart phone to check out the spoiler pic online while we were at the site and it matched the tree I had been examining perfectly (I searched many nearby trees as well). It may be for the best though as the signs of erosion resulting from prior search attempts and subsequent damage to the trail was quite evident. Perhaps a smaller container that could be concealed closer to the trail would be better. The location is certainly worth it.
As far as the Dixie Canyon Trail goes, it is in a truly picturesque location and provided a lot of fun for me, MamaMia and our Belgian Malinois Pepper. Starting from the stone staircase at the trailhead and continuing all the way around the loop, this was a really wonderful area!
We will definitely be back when the cache is up and running again!!!
Thanks David. Happy caching!

Our final find of 22 on a Memorial Day Studio City and Sherman Oaks run. We hadn't ever been up Dixie Canyon, so it was cool to drive up the road and see the interesting houses and even cooler to hike up the surprisingly lush canyon. There were, of course, the challenges of VERY limited parking and plenty of poison oak up the canyon, but it was definitely worth the effort. TFTC!

Out with Majorjarhead for another day of caching. The slope to the cache is starting to erode. Also Poison Oak is growing near the cache slope and around the trail. TNSL
