This ammo can rests on a cliff overlooking one of the most beautiful canyons I have had the privilege to see. I saved this placement for the day I found my 100th cache.
Cottonwood Canyon is a truly remarkable beauty hidden back in the far reaches of the Cibola Forest. High clearance and four wheel drive is necessary on dry roads. If the road is wet or snowy I would be hard pressed to attempt it at all. Access is completely blocked from the North by private land as far as I know; let me know if you find this to be incorrect.
Access from the south can be managed by taking Forest road 50 from either Grants of Gallup. Forest Road 483 intersects 50 just north of another cache (Red Rock Adventure), follow this north. Watch for a dirt road heading off to the east. This will take you up Lookout Mountain and to Forest Road 169. Follow 169 North to the cache site. I would almost call this a park and grab, but the road is rough enough to shake your fillings loose in places. I recommend you take the road back out the way you came. As I mentioned before I have yet to find a way out to the North that isn't blocked by locked gates.
