Damariscotta River during Fall
You'll find "Quickie at Kitzi" in the Boothbay Region Land
Trust's Kitzi Colby Preserve in Edgecomb, Maine.
The preserve is located on River Road, which is accessible from
either Rt. 1 in Newcastle or Rt. 27 in Boothbay. However, it is
very easy to miss the tiny entrance to the preserve, so punch in
these parking coordinates: N43 57.090, W069 35.773.
A single white-blazed .6 mile loop trail winds through the woods
down to the river and back. As you head in, I recommend taking the
more interesting left fork first for nice views of the river. The
trail is relatively flat with a few elevation changes. You'll have
a short off-trail scramble at the end, but nothing major.
The cache is a small Rubbermaid container filled with goodies
for young and old.
