History;
When the Center City Commuter Tunnel was completed in 1984, SEPTA R6 line (ex-PRR) ran from Center City over the viaduct defining Manayunk to Ivy Ridge, where it nearly joined the R6 line (exReadingRR) from Norristown.
The Ivy Ridge PRR station closed May 17, 1986, but the track (and terminal Bumping Post) remained until early June 2010. The forlorn platform was blocked off for demolition in March 2012.
The R6 line, terminates now at Bala Cynwyd, a trail on the former right-of-way now crosses the viaduct and joins the Schuylkyll River trail.
Commuters use the Ivy Ridge Reading station, so the area can be busy at rush hours. Be stealthy! CAUTION: There are active wasp nests in places where a cache might be hidden.
Cache replaces Bumping Post, which was archived after the title object was removed by SEPTA workers.
- 03/10/12 - It has been moved to a new, easier location.
- 05/29/19 - Replaced for the last time.
- 08/08/23 - Adopted by Two2teps
- 08/12/23 - Fresh container and log.
This is still a nano, BYOP and use stealth!
