Geocache Description:

In this location there is a memorial which shows the true spirit of mateship.

Many decades ago Henry Gardiner saw his mate John Hume wash into a cave whilst swimming. He then paid the ultimate price whilst attempting to save him. Sadly both their lives were lost which shows heros don't necessarily live to tell their tale.
This memorial commemorates the lives lost in that event but to me it commemorates the lengths people will go for a mate in trouble.
When at the cache read the inscriptions on the memorial as well as soak in the views. The cache is not located near any cliffs. GPS reception is amongst the best I've had so it should be an easy find.
