I stumbled upon this place after missing a turn for another cache. I thought this was an interesting place and worthy of a virtual cache. Parking is okay across the road on N. 175th road, or at the parking area to the south at the Battle of Black Jack Nature Park.
This little area marks the grounds where the "Battle of Black Jack" took place. There is a stone marker at this location that reads:
Battle of Black Jack - "The first battle between free and slave states fought on these grounds June 2, 1856."
There was a small shelter with picnic tables, but those have been removed at some point? There are a few other caches within a few miles of this location.
There is a stone plaque on the grounds placed in memory of an individual. Email me the FIRST name of this individual for verification of your find. Don't post the name in your log entry.
DO NOT POST PICTURES OF THE PLAQUE CONTAINING ANY PART OF THE NAME PLEASE. Thanks.
