Geocache Description:

This series, FWP or Famous Wisconsin People, will acknowledge the accomplishments of some well-known (and maybe not so well-known) individuals from our state.

The cache is not at the corrdinates listed. You must solve the puzzle to find the cache.

Liberace was born Wladziu Valentino Liberace on May 16, 1919 in West Allis, Wisconsin. His mother was of Polish descent and his father emigrated from Italy. Liberace had a twin who died at birth. Liberace was born with a caul, which was taken as a sign of genius. His father was a musician who played the French horn in bands and movie theaters. Liberace began playing the piano at four and memorized difficult pieces by age seven. He studied the technique of famous Polish pianist and later family friend, Ignacy Paderewski.

Liberace began his career as a classical pianist, however between 1942-44, he reinvented his act to pop with a bit of classics, or, as he said, “Classical music with the boring parts left out.” He really began to expand his act and make it more extravagant when he began playing in Las Vegas. By 1955 he was earning $50K a week at the Riviera in Las Vegas. He was earning one million dollars from public appearances and millions from TV.  He appeared on TV in The Ford Show (staring Tennessee Ernie Ford), The Tonight Show, starring Jack Parr, Person to Person and on the Jack Benny, Ed Sullivan, and Red Skelton Shows. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. His final stage appearance was on Nov. 2, 1986 in New York at Radio City Music Hall during his 18th show in 21 days. He died in Feb. 4, 1987 from pneumonia, a consequence of HIV disease.

You are searching for a small container placed in honor of Liberace’s accomplishments.
