Åros-Veten

Kjør til Søgne, og ta av mot Åros Camping. Fortsett forbi campingplassen, og ta deretter første vei til høyre, mot Krossnes. Fortsett til du ser skilt på høyre siden av veien, merket Åros-Veten. Gå noen 100 meter opp til toppen. Nyt utsikten! De gamle vetene langs kysten var et viktig varslings- og mobiliseringssytem til forsvar mot fiender. Bål ble tent, og slik varslet man hverandre om fiender fra vete til vete langs hele kysten. Dette har pågått helt fra Bronsealderen for ca. 3000 år siden.

Drive towards Søgne, and then towards Åros Camping. Continue passing this camping, and take the first road afterwards to the right, marked Krossnes. Follow this road until you'll see a sign on the right side of the road marked Åros-Veten. Here you can park your car, and follow the path to the top of the mountain, a few hundred meters only. Enjoy the view! This is an old coastel beacon. In ancient times people kept watch from the best look-out points along the coast. When hostile vessels approached, great fires were lit to give warning and mobilize a defence. Åros-Veten is one of these viewpoints. This warning-system goes as far back as the Bronce Age some 3000 years ago.
