SCULPTURES OF NATURE

    This earthcache will take you to two localities interesting by their geology, lying near villages Mosty, Zvule and Valtínov. Both localities, named Skalka and Zvule, are characterized by occurrence of separate groups of rocks, unique geomorphological objects such as rock mushrooms, domes, hummocks etc. These formations originate by erosion and block breaking of granite rocks that were uncovered after flushing away the soil. Individual objects are usually 1-5m large. It is so called Landštejn granite or Zvule granite type.

Geological characteristics:

• According to S. Chábera (1982): Fossil, climate based types of granite erosion, remnants of mainly chemical weathering in an extremely humid tropical climate in Paleogene. Boulders of Landštejn granite with perfect rounded shape. There are rock dishes, pavement and depressions of tafone type on some of the rocks.

• Granite Zvule according to Scharbertova and Breitr (1999): Lying in the axis of the Central pluton of Moldanubicum, about 10km north of Czech-Austrian border. The intrusion has a circular shape and corresponds to a negative gravity anomaly. Petrographically said, the Zvule granite is medium to coarse granulated, slightly porfyric, double mica, albitic. Biotite is strongly chloritized in some parts. Geochemically said, it is strongly peraluminic granite with low contents of trace elements (Sr, Zr, Th, REE). According to Rb-Sr isotopes, the Zvule granite resembles those of Cimer and Eisgarns types, but is much more homogeneous. Zvule granite is probably a product of late intrusion from deep, better homogenized magma reservoir (age about 320 Ma).

3. In which year was built the fishpond Zvule, what is its area? (information tag 2nd item)

4. Take photos of yourself in two sites described below and attach them to your log.

Recommended hunting schedule:

    Start from PARKING, go up with the red tourist marks. You will soon reach STAGE1 (N49 05.871 E015 13.684) slightly above the path. Continue with the red marks to the cross KR01 (N49 05.959 E015 13.437), turn right, go up on the forest path. After cca 130 m you will find blue marked path KR02 (N49 05.958 E015 13.336). Continue to the left, uphill, to the STAGE2 (N49 05.891 E015 13.261), that is situated about 50m off the path. Find a rock in this locality that is similar to ice-cream (if sold as a hillock in toot), take your photo (location is also visible in a map). Continue with blue marks to Rozcestí pod Skalkou (KR03). Turn sharp left with the red marks. Go cca 300m on the path. Then left the path, go less than 100m right, find STAGE3 (N49 05.514 E015 13.343). After next cca 200m walk with the red marks, you will find another rock formation with traditional cache GCWN9B. Continue to the cross KR04 (N49 05.673 E015 13.472). Turn right, go on forest path to the road KR05 (N49 05.439 E015 13.445). Go to the left by the road to cross KR06 (N49 05.344 E015 13.937), then continue straight on forest path. Go to the next cross with red marks KR07 (N49 05.311 E015 14.430). Here, near the path, you make have a rest on a bench. Turn left on the cross and cca after 100 m turn right up the forest path at KR08 (N49 05.365 E015 14.441). Then you will come to the stream, cross it, continue to the cross KR09. Before coming to the cross you will see a rock on your left hand, with a beech growing close to it. Take a photo of yourself with both the rock and tree. STAGE4 (N49 05.481 E015 14.772) is situated in the forest cca 80m from the rock. Turn left on the next cross KR09 (N49 05.460 E015 14.859) and continue on the ski path ZBT-05. You will get below STAGE5 (N49 05.665 E015 14.869) that is on a hillock cca 100m right off the path. This path goes to the village Zvule. On the coordinates N49 05.798 E015 14.258 (INFO) is an info tag with answer to the question 3. Now you are near the fishpond dam, walk on it to the parking place. Entire circle is cca 7km long.

    The circle was designed for the possibility to hunt many surrounding traditional caches with minor modifications of the circle.

SOCHY PRIRODY

    Tato earthkes vas zavede do dvou geologicky velice zajimavych lokalit, nachazejicich se v okoli obci Mosty, Zvule a Valtinov. Jsou to lokality Skalka a Zvule. Obe se vyznacuji vyskytem ojedinelych skupin velkych balvanu, "kamennych stad", unikatnich geomorfologickych tvaru jako jsou skalni hriby, kopule, homole, atd. Tyto utvary vznikly zvetravanim a zokovitym rozpadem granitickych hornin, jez byly po odnosu zvetralin obnazeny. Jednotlive utvary dosahuji obvykle rozmeru 1-5m. Geologicky se jedna o Landstejnsou zulu ci dle novejsiho geologickeho vymezeni granit Zvule.

Geologicke charakteristiky:

• Dle S. Chabery (1982): Fosilni, klimaticky podminene formy zvetravani a odnosu zuly se zbytky prevazne chemickeho zvetravani v extremne humidnim tropickem podnebi paleogenu. Velke balvany Landstejnske zuly s dokonale zaoblenym tvarem. Na nekterych se nachazeji vedle skalnich mis i zlabkovite skrapy a prohlubne typu tafone.

• Granit Zvule dle Scharbertova a Breitr (1999): Lezi v osni casti Centralniho plutonu Moldanubika, asi 10km severne od Cesko-Rakouske hranice. Intruze ma kruhovity tvar a dobre odpovida negativni anomalii tize. Petrograficky je granit Zvule stredne az hrube zrnity, nevyrazne porfyricky dvojslidny, albiticky. Biotit je v nekterych castech silne chloritizovany. Geochemicky jde o silne peraluminicky granit s nizkymi obsahy vsech kompatibilnich stopovych prvku(Sr, Zr, Th, REE). Z hlediska Rb-Sr izotopu je granit Zvule podobny granitum cimerskeho a eisgarnskeho s.s.typu, je vsak latkove mnohem homogenejsi. Granit Zvule je pravdepodobne produktem pozdni intruze z hlubsiho, lepe homogenizovaneho magmatickeho rezervoaru (stari asi 320 Ma).

UKOLY:

1. Jednotlivym zastavkam STAGE1-5 priradte pismena fotek skalnich seskupeni, ktere se zde nachazeji. Jedna z fotografii nebyla porizena v teto lokalite.

2. Jak vysoky je vrchol Skalka? (web, mapa)

3. V jakem roce byl vystaven rybnik Zvule a jaka je jeho rozloha? (informacni tabule)

4. Vyfotte se na dvou nize popsanych mistech a fotky pridejte k logu.

Doporuceny postup lovu:

    Od parkoviste (PARKING) se vydejte vzhuru po cervene znacce. Brzy dojdete az k mistum, kde se kousek nad cestou nachazi STAGE1 (N49 05.871 E015 13.684). Dale pokracujte po cervene az na rozcesti KR01 (N49 05.959 E015 13.437) kde odbocte vpravo vzhuru po lesni ceste. Po cca 130 metrech dojdete k modre znacene ceste KR02 (N49 05.958 E015 13.336). Po te se dejte vlevo nahoru az k STAGE2 (N49 05.891 E015 13.261), ktera se nachazi cca 50m od cesty. V teto lokalite najdete skalu, ktera vyrazne pripomina kopeckovou zmrzlinu (tri kopecky na sobe - horni uz je dost olizany) a vyfotte se u ni (jeji pribliznou polohu vidite v mape). Pokracujte dale po modre znacce az na "Rozcesti pod Skalkou" (KR03). Zde odbocte ostre vlevo po cervene turisticke znacce. Jdete cca 300m po ceste. Zde ani ne 100m vpravo najdete STAGE3 (N49 05.514 E015 13.343). O cca 200m dal po cervene znacce najdete kamenny utvar „Dabluv chleb“, u ktereho si nezapomente odlovit klasickou kes GCWN9B. Po znacce dojdete az k rozcesti KR04 (N49 05.673 E015 13.472). Zde se date vpravo a po lesni ceste dojdete az k silnici KR05 (N49 05.439 E015 13.445). Date se vlevo a po silnici dojdete az na krizovatku KR06 (N49 05.344 E015 13.937) kde pujdete rovne po lesni ceste. Po te dojdete az ke krizovatce s cervenou znackou KR07 (N49 05.311 E015 14.430). Zde, kousek od cesty, muzete na lavicce nacerpat dalsi sily. Na krizovatce odbocte vlevo a cca po 100 metrech odbocte vpravo vzhuru po lesni ceste KR08 (N49 05.365 E015 14.441). Po te dojdete az k potoku, ktery prekrocte a pokracujte az ke krizovatce KR09. Kousek pred krizovatkou vlevo uvidite skalku, v jejiz tesne blizkosti roste buk. Vyfotte se zde, tak aby byl videt strom i skalka. STAGE4 (N49 05.481 E015 14.772) najdete v lese cca 80m od skaly. Na krizovatce KR09 (N49 05.460 E015 14.859) zatocte vlevo a dale jiz pokracujete po trase bezecke stopy ZBT-05. Po te dojdete az pod STAGE5 (N49 05.665 E015 14.869), kterou muzete najit na kopecku cca 100m vpravo od cesty. Tou se dostanete az do obce Zvule, kde na souradicich N49 05.798 E015 14.258 (INFO) naleznete informacni tabuli. Na te zjistite odpoved na otazku 3. Nyni jste jiz kousek od hraze rybnika, po ktere se vratite zpet k parkovisti. Cely okruh meri cca 7km.

    Okruh je navrzen tak, aby s drobnymi upravami umoznoval odlov vetsiny klasickych kesi v okoli.
