The name given to this cache is related to the United States Air
Force as they make practice parachute cargo drops East of County
Road "I" S.W. The cache is about 1/2 to 1 mile away. The cache is
located on open range land and is very sandy. Be careful where you
park your vehicle.
The more common air craft seen are the C17 cargo transport. They
are fom the 62nd Airlift Wing or the 446th Airlift Wing base out of
McCord Air Force base near Tacoma. Each plane usually has a pilot,
co-pilot and a loadmaster. The plane can haul a payload of 170,900
lbs and most military vehicles or palletized cargo. Usually two to
three plane will be in formation and will drop one or two loads on
fly by.
While doing the multi-cache hunt you may lucky enough to see a few
fly bys. My cache theme places you in the position to find the cast
of MURPHY's MISFITS ARMY. These imaginary characters will probably
over load and tax your brain to find thier position or locations.
At the first stop you will find a lead parachute bag I found while
laying out the cache. BRUSH UP ON YOUR UNITS OF MEASURES
BEFORE STARTING THIS ONE
The cache is a (camo'd) Jiff peanut butter jar. It is hid well.
(not easily seen)

Almost missed it
Finally I got a picture of a parachute drop for this cache page. I had to scramble to stop my truck, get the camera, and shoot. I took this picture about 2 miles to the west of where they drop these loads. Note the small parachute, this is a lead chute which deploys the larger twin parachutes. The small attachment on the lead chute is it's storage bag. One like it was found when I laid out the Drop Zone cache. This bag is placed next to one of the milti cache locations.
Approaching C-17
A C-17 approaching the drop zone area East of County Road "I" S.W. This is about 1/2 tp 1 mile away from the cach location.
Fly By
The C-17 flew by and did not drop a load Picture again taken from Road "I" S.W.

January 13 by Recon2it (126 found) I was looking for something top do, so I decided to do this one again after four years. Marks are still right where they need to be. Outpost Charlie is missing its printed sign and the post was lying on the ground, but it still serves it's purpose. Thanks.

February 14, 2009 by acfunk (3839 found) Of the nine Valentine's Day caches we did today, this was our favorite. We came prepared with tables of units of measurement, a calculator, and compass. First attempt with the compass had us searching at stage two without success, so we did a crash course on learning to project waypoints on our Colorado (a major undertaking for us non-techie cachers). We figured it out and it worked like a champ. Turned out we were pretty close on the second stage from the compass projection after all, but kept doing the waypoint projections after that since it worked so well. Managed to find all the rest without too much trouble. One stage had the expected Mr. Gadget trickiness to it. Really enjoyed doing this multi! T- Sig coin. L- tumbled lapis. TFTC!

September 2, 2008 by firenut-hunter (305 found) Told you I would be back....And I brought reinforcements this time (thanx Taztwr)....Glad he had a newer GPSr too.....I might still be out there with my old-skool unit. Had a good time...Called cache owner after the log was signed to let him know then visited the shop to talk in person. Was a good afternoon of caching and glad we could show some activity on this after 2 years.. All legs are good and you will need to brush up on your measurement units. SL RJH3106
