Geocache Description:

A friendly meet and greet with a few cacher friendly games that will end in a final score with one organization bringing home an award to keep for the year.  Everyone is invited and if you can bring a food to share for the picnic it will even be better.  Pass the word along, and hope to see you there.

CIGA- Central Illinois Geocaching Association- http://www.cigacache.org
SLAGA- St. Louis Area Geocachers Association- http://www.slaga.org

We will be meeting at Southwind Park in Springfield, IL for a friendly meet and greet between any one who lives in Central, IL where CIGA is located, and anyone from the St. Louis region. If you are not a member of either group, please feel free to come and participate and if you wish, you can meet representatives from both groups.
The time will be 10 a.m.- 3p.m. with a picnic potluck lunch at 12 noon.
CIGA/SLAGA will provide drinks, cups, water and tableware.

If you would like to help your area organization take home the "Cup" there will be 3 easy competition style games that you can participate in to score points for your group.
Overall Rules for the days events:

Closest to the Pin:
SLAGA participants will have a colored flag, and CIGA participants will have a different colored flag. A set of coordinates will be given, and only two members from each organization will know the exact location. Everyone may stick a flag in the ground. When it comes time to measure, we will paint concentric 'bullseye type' circles on the ground with each circle having a different point value. For example if you flag is in the inner cirlce which may be 12 inches or less, you will score 100 points, but if you are outside the last cirlce which may be 49 inches or greater, then you will only get 25 points. Each participant will carry a score card and we will write their score on their card.

Ammo Can Toss:
A circle with a stake will be placed at a predetermined distance. One for the men and one for the women. Once again, concentric "bullseye type" circles will be spray painted on the grass around the stake. If you throw the ammo can and it lands inside the inner circle which may be 24 inches or closer, then you will receive 100 points, but if your toss lands 49 inches or farther away, then you would only get 25 points. We will write your score on your score card that each participant will carry.

Opening the Cache:
We will have a certain number of caches inside each other....like the "nesting dolls". Each participant will be timed to see how quickly you can open all the cache containers. Scoring will be based on how quickly you open them. For example, if it takes you one minute or less, you will get 100 points, but if it takes you more than 2.5 minutes then you may only get 25 points. Your score will be written on your score card.

Score Cards:
Each participant will be given a score card. Once they have finished all three events, a total will be written on the card. The card will then be folded and placed in a box that represents your regions of CIGA or SLAGA. Because there will be an odd amount of participants from each regions....we will only draw a certain amount of cards from each box. So, for example, if we draw 20 cards from the SLAGA box and the grand total is 1575, then we will draw 20 cards from the CIGA box and if the total is only 1350, then SLAGA will be the winner. This scoring system assures that everyone has a chance to participate, and by drawing the same number of cards, it will ensure a random final score.

please pass the word along and invite your geocaching friends to the event.

The park has paved sidewalks to all the areas so it is ADA handicap accessible.
