Jungle Book Theme Cache in Pocahontas State Park. One of four caches located on the Exploration Trail. Look for other Jungle Book Caches by others in this park.
Shere Khan, one of four geocaches located on the Exploration Trail in Pocahontas State Park. This series of caches is inspired by one of my favorite stories and movie “The Jungle Book” by R. Kipling. Shere Khan is a fierce but foolish tiger that is the enemy of man. Shere Khan is on the hunt for Mowgli. Read the book if you haven’t. A great story! This series of caches is also dedicated to Cub Scouts everywhere who are Learning and Exploring through Doing as they grow into young men. The theme, values and characters in the “Jungle Book” story are used by Cub Scouts in their wonderful program.
On the other side of the Exploration Trail from this cache you will find a path that takes you near some old headstones. They are difficult to read but give it a try. Be respectfull of this site. It is nowhere near the cache.
Park entrance fee is 3 dollars per vehicle during the week and 4 on the weekends. Support the park by paying the fee. Best location to start from is the Boat Ramp parking lot.
If all 4 cache in the Jungle Book Series are attempted expect to cover approximately 2 miles. Any one of these caches may be 0.5 or more miles from one of the approved parking areas. Boat ramp parking lot is the best choice.
Please rehide the cache as you found it and use generous leafaflauge. Watchout for Kaa the python who is guarding the cache and watching out for fair trades,
