Geocache Description:

East Sooke Trail, Aylard Farm End, Unexcelled view of the Olympic
Mountains

NOTE:Adopted by Ickster 21 Sep 07. My thanks to Plantman
for letting us keep this "old-timer" cache running. In the
description below, it's interesting to see how the "travelling
pet-rock" moved around prior to the implementation of Travel
Bugs.

1 litre plastic ice cream container covered in branches and debris
at the base of a multi-trunk scrubby pine tree next to a twin-trunk
arbutus tree at about 400 feet elevation. Thousands of people pass
by on the trail 7 seconds N and 1 second west and never leave the
trail to enjoy this viewpoint.
Annual maintenance check, Tuesday May, 21, 2002. Took the
one-eyed pet rock home for a transplant and put a new two-eyed pet
rock in the cache. Added a new logbook since the old one was nearly
full; popular cache. Beautiful view up there today.
"A straight compass line may be the shortest and quickest way
for a crow (Corvus caurinus) to get from A to B; this is not
generally true for a man (Homo sapiens) on the ground in rough
terrain!".
