Pirate's Plunder Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Dexter's Peeps: 'Tis with a sad heart we find that Pirate's Plunder has been plundered by scurvy dogs who went to the trouble of bringin' bolt cutters to cut the lock off the hasp. We have had too much trouble with the muggles getting into the waypoints and plunderin' the booty and regret to have to archive this cache. Many thanks to the fine pirate lads and lassies who have come to find the treasure of Captain Dexter.

Geocache Description:

Terrain difficulty is due to slipperiness when wet, especially the final leg. You do not need to venture far off the trail and there is no bushwhacking! Lots of muggles in the area so lease hide the cache well! Always take the trail instead of the pavement if possible! Hints are listed for each leg of the trail. You are looking for an ammo box.

AAAAARRRRRR, me hearties, this is the trail to Pirate’s Plunder!! ‘Tis obvious even to pirates with only one good eye this cache is all about Pirates, so please try to leave only Pirate related booty or any kind of TB's! You’ll be wantin’ to wear good hiking boots and/or a rubber tip on yer peg leg as this location can get muddy and slippery in spots! Pay attention to the clues as you will need them to figure out the combination of the lock at the cache. Any good Pirate knows you can’t leave your treasure unguarded and unlocked! And yer dog (scurvy or other) is welcome but must be on his leash. This cache was started with the Captain Dexter Pirate TB, a YJTB, Pirate flag, Pirate decal, Pirate magnet, Pirate pencils, 2 decks of Pirate playing cards, and a Pirate 6-pack cooler.

Captain Cook, the relentless pursuer of Pirates had chased Captain Dexter up the Pacific coast of the New World then up the Columbia River and then on to another major river and finally to this small river. When Captain Dexter spotted him at the coordinates listed above (A) (determined by using his sextant) he knew he had to hide his treasure before it was too late! From those coordinates he scurried to establish a treasure map whose next leg was (B) which is the starting coordinates less the number of letters in the scurvy captain’s (that is NOT our hero) last name from the latitude and add 10 times that plus 14 to the longitude. There you’ll be findin’ a sign. Methinks ye should write down this number as you’ll be needin’ it later. The last number is the second number of the combination lock on the treasure so write it down, matey. He then ran along the waterfront to (C) which is (B) latitude plus 87 and (B) longitude plus 171. There he left a micro cache with the coordinates to (D). At (D) he left a marker to make sure you’re on the right path. E-mail Captain Dexter to let him know you found his marker and telling him what it is. From (D) he went on into the forest and hid another micro cache at (E). To find (E) you must take the first 3 numbers from the sign at (B) and subtract 405 and then take THAT number and subtract it from (D) latitude and then subtract 110 from the longitude. There he left the coordinates to (F) where he saw a sign. At the sign there are some dates. The first month expressed as it's number of month in the year divided by 2 equals the last number of the first year listed. This number plus 1 is the fourth number of the combination. From (F) he went a short distance to (G). He got there by subtracting 6 from the (F) latitude and 11 from the longitude. There he saw a sign with 2 numbers. The numbers on the sign are the first and third numbers of the combination plus 5 and minus 3, respectively, so write them down! Now on to the site of the hidden plunder! Captain Dexter went to find a good hidin’ spot by adding 93 to the (G) latitude and subtracting 75 from the longitude. Good luck, me hearties….you’ll be needin’ it!!! Oh and please hide the cache well as muggles plundered our first treasure chest! And try to lock it as ye found it...much appreciated, matey!
