AKA: Taking A (Rincon)
Shortcut
Headed out Saturday morning for a drive
and ended up high above Azusa canyon on our way to Angeles Crest.
The views are amazing, and there are several spots to pull over for
some pictures or a quick picnic. During one of these stops I dug a
decon container out from behind the seat and stashed it under a few
rocks. Contents are a log book, a couple of Zombie Tribe smashed
pennies and a Zombie Tribe Geocoin for FTF.
A free permit and gate combination are
needed to drive the road. These can be picked up at the San Gabriel
Canyon Forest Service Ranger District Office in Glendora or, on
weekends, at the San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area on Hwy. 39 just before
the trailhead. Vehicles parked on the trail must display a Forest
Adventure Pass. First half of trip is a graded road but narrow in a
few places. Last part of trip is rocky and steep in spots. Suitable
for all stock SUVs with high ground clearance and low-range 4-wheel
drive.
Enjoy and be safe,
Zombie Tribe
