Department of Forensic Morphology Annex Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

fauxSteve: I stopped by yesterday to check on the cache, and the whole hiding area has become a giant hole in the ground to make way for new construction. This was one of my favorite caches I put together, but it fell victim to little pieces disappearing one-by-one until the final location went away completely.

Geocache Description:

There is no reason to go to the posted coordinates to find the cache, but it is a nice spot. However, you will need part of those coordinates for the first waypoint.

Parking is available--usually for a fee, but sometimes free. I suggest arriving by bike, bus or on Sunday. Give yourself an hour for this one.

We have convincing evidence that a previously unknown alien species has made contact in the Seattle area. Our sources indicate that agents from an unidentified organization quickly captured the alien, and that they are currently holding it for research purposes at a secret laboratory–known as "The Department of Forensic Morphology Annex". It is in the Agency's best interest to make sure that any knowledge that can be obtained from this extra terrestrial life form is solely for our own benefit. Therefore, your mission is to identify who is holding the alien and the location of their laboratory, and then to report this information back to the Agency. We believe that our insider at the Weekly World of Absolutely True News has, as usual, provided clues in their recent article regarding the last known location of the organization holding the alien. Decode the hidden information in the enclosed newspaper and make your way to the first part of the assignment. You will end up at the entrance of a building where you will meet the man holding the alien; just look around outside for a famous name. He has a four digit number (ABCD), which will help you fill in the blanks for the next stop: N47° 39.5(A)9, W122° 18.(C)0(D). Good luck!

Temporary On-Line Info:

The sign for Waypoint 1 has been changed. For ABCD, seek out the year the University of Washington was founded.
And... Until I replace the faded info at Waypoint 2, here is the full text, which should allow you to find the cache:

"Congratulations, you have discovered The Department of Forensic Morphology Annex. The location of this site needs to be relayed to the Agency's local office, where you can file your written report about the mission. First, however, you will need to contact a field agent, code-named Peer Gynt, who will give you two sets of four-digit numbers (EFGH-IJKL). He is waiting for you at 47° 39.376, 122° 18.383. Use these numbers along with the code from your first stop (ABCD) to locate the office.

Here are two additional values to calculate when you can:

M=C-G, N=B-H

The office is at:

N47° 39.ENM
W122° 18.MHJ

By the way, the office is disguised. If you are having trouble finding it, look va gur zvqqyr bs guerr bcravatf (rot13).
