Geocache Description:

An easy hike to an oddity of nature. Our "gnome" has received a black "haircut" in recent times, and he will be visible from below the trail as you approach.

May 22, 2022 update: Wow! Our gnome has changed his appearance since we last visited here! He is visible from below on the trail, due to his new coloring, though his stature is greatly decreased! The cache has been moved much closer to the gnome, due to logs blocking the access. When giving him a hug, you can point to just about 15 feet away to find the cache location. Since using the GPS app on the phone does not work due to coverage here, these are direction you may wish to jot down before arriving in this area: Parking is available in the lot just after crossing the slab bridge. There is a trail marker on the left, as you walk a short distance beyond the parking. When the trail divides, go to the right, on Big Hollow Trail. The cache is immediately on your left after crossing the creek. Greet our gnome with a hug! Original Description: My name is Gnickolas Gnome. I am very, very big (especially for gnomes). One day two people came by and hid a box of goodies nearby. It was interesting to watch them. I asked them what they were doing and they said they were hiding a special geocache near the very first geocache they ever found. They explained to me what geocaching was and I wished I could go geocaching, but I'm not very good with technology. They asked if I would help people find the cache. They said that because the valley where I live is steep and narrow and because my neighbors and I are so big, some people might have some problems finding the cache, because their little boxes won't work right. I was honored that they thought I could help, and am looking forward to your visit! They said to tell you to park just beyond the concrete slab just past the campground. Then look for a trail. Now here is my favorite part. Come right up to me, get nose to nose and give me a hug. When you do, your left index finger will point directly at the cache that is hidden about 100 feet away by. I haven't been this excited since I was an sapling! Come and see me soon! [note: posted coordinates will lead you to Gnickolas Gnome]
