Geocache Description:

The cache is located near Highway 35, near the Muhi Memorial Park.

The Muhi Memorial Park is dedicated to the catastrophic battle fought by the Hungarian King against the Mongol hordes in April 1241 AD. King Bela IV, King of Hungary tried to stop the invasion of Mongol hordes at the so called Muhi-plains. His forces set up their defense on the plains, they made a perimeter by placing their chariots to form a circle. Their tents were placed so tightly, it became almost impossible to pass between them. The Mongols could easily scout the fortifications from the other side of the nearby Sajo river. They crossed the river North and South of the King's camp and encircled it by the morning. When the Sun came up, a rain of arrows and spears fall upon the defenders. Many of them were incendiary so the tents and chariots burned down quickly. The chaotic placement of the tents and ropes worsened the situation. The King's forces suffered severe defeat. Even the King himself could escape alive only by the sacrification and loyalty of his men, who broke the Mongol encirclement and got him out.

Good hunting and have fun!
