Tarman's Copse (Berkshire)
Peacock Farm is an area just
south of the A329(M) between Wokingham and Bracknell. It is
in for some big changes...
The site has been designated for development of around 1250 homes,
including a new country park, small business units, a park and ride
and even a new railway station! Although the existing woodland of
Tarman's Copse is to remain, the impact on the area will
undoubtedly change. More details can be seen on
Bracknell Forest's web pages.
This development fills the last narrow green belt between Bracknell
and Wokingham. Come and see it now whilst it can still be
enjoyed!
The cache is situated on the north western rim of the copse, and if
you continue on for a few yards, you can see the full impact of
this development on the surrounding countryside. There is a free
car park to the south of the cache at the local allotments.
Just head north into the copse and you will pick up one of
the many paths to the cache area. I wouldn't recommend
approaching from the north due to the building activity.
GPS reception is not good in the copse, however I took several
averages with a best of 19' accuracy. Please feel free to
offer your own coordinates in your logs.
You are looking for a camouflaged ammo tin, stuffed full of bits
and pieces for both children and adults.
It would be interesting if visitors to the cache could take photos
of the progressing development just to the north, and post them in
their logs. When I placed the cache it was looking pretty
desolate...
Good luck.
