In a city reserve covered in regenerating light bush. I have found a new spot 15 Jan 2002. Note the obvious contour track to the West following the Defence fence is technically trespassing and is closed. Use the steps on the boundary (Swamp Track) or the main route to Kendall Bay.
Located in Kauri Point Centennial Park. This site is meant to be an urban starter for those with a new GPS and haven't had time to get out into the country. Note how poor the signal is under even light bush with consumer devices. Too easy with Google Maps showing the location now, before selective availability it was harder. Yes, I know tracks can be muddy after heavy rain - don't wear city shoes you city slickers! The easiest track following the contour line has been closed by Defence because it is on their land, has been cut off by a new security fence and is too close to the new Exocet missile silos. Description: Checked October 2013. A snaplock container to try to keep it watertight. Replaced container and soggy logbook 2 Dec 2015 Contents: Golf ball, GIS badge, 2 ball point pens, logbook and pencil. And a printout of the FAQ in an attempt to tell accidental finders to leave it there.
