Geocache Description:

Priddy is the highest village on the Mendips and is home to the popular Folk Festival and the famous Sheep Fair.

The idea behind this multi-cache is to let you amble around the village and see things that you would otherwise miss if you just drove through. In order to obtain the final co-ordinates you will need to find the answers to various questions.

The cache co-ordinates are the recommended parking. Within this vicinity you will find the answers to the first three questions.

1. What was the original fee charged to the Swildon's Hole cavers for using the changing rooms? = AB

2. How many hurdles are there on the village green? = CDE
(July 2013 - new sign in place that doesn't mention the number of hurdles). Answer is 130

3. The annual sheep fair is held on the nearest Wednesday to what date? = FG st August

Now head up the main road towards the church and next waypoint (N51 15.561 W002 40.733) - but keep those eyes peeled for the next answer which can be found on the way.

4. What year did the villagers receive pure water? = HJKL

When you arrive at the waypoint why not stop for a rest, admire the view and answer question 5.

5. What year was Albert remembered? = MNPQ

Time to continue your walk ... Head into the churchyard to the waypoint (N51 15.575 W002 40.639)

6. How many sheep are there in the stained glass window? = R

Continue through the churchyard heading for a wooden gate in the far corner and cross a field towards the next waypoint (N51 15.667 W002 40.748)

7. What is the penalty for not fastening the gate? = ST

You should now have all the numbers required to find the cache. (The letters I and O have been omitted to avoid confusion)

The cache is a medium to large lock and lock container located at:

N51 (A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H+L).(R*S*L*(P+A))

W002 (F+K+M+N+P+Q+R+S+T).(F*L*R*(P+S))

N.B. This has been set as a circular walk (approx 1.25 miles), so as long as you have answered the questions in order you shouldn't need to retrace your steps - enjoy the walk to the cache and then back to the green where there is a village pub just around the corner - to quench your thirst.

***We have placed a 'First to Find' gift in the cache ... however, it can only be claimed by the first 'Geo Hound' to find the cache ..... (please post a photo) ***

Annie (Greyhound) & Millie (Springer Spaniel/Border Collie X) (Mikepwsm) were the F(GH)TF and on their very first caching outing - see their photo with the FTF prize
