A short canoe or kayak trip to find this cache on Reeds Lake.

There is a public access boat ramp located at John Collins Park at: N 42º 57.111 W 85º 36.705
The cache is .38 mile from the boat ramp in a clump of reeds at the edge of the open water. Canoe or kayak is recommend - too shallow for any other type of watercraft. No Swimming allowed.

The cache is in a medium-sized clear plastic container with a green painted screw-on lid. There is a funky First Finder's Prize. The 2 rocks in the bottom of the container are for added ballast - please do not remove them.

Greetings,

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit, because of several DNFs and a couple of unanswered log requests for the owner to check it out. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Guidelines: (visit link)

I've bookmarked this cache, and I will check back in two weeks or so to be sure that the maintenance has been done or at least a note posted here indicating your intentions. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can re-enable the listing via a log entry.

Thank you,

-DeRock-

I hate to be the one to do this, but there have been numerous attempts this year at finding this cache, none with any luck. No finds in over a year. The owners don't seem to be responding to requests to check on the cache. So let's either verify that it is still there or make room for a new cache.

Though I did not actually find the cache, I am virtually dipping my new Geo-Kayak Travel GPS coin into the Reeds Lake Cache to mark the first time I attempted to geocache in my kayak.

Well now I officially have a DNF on this one, that's progress after four years I guess. My maiden voyage in my new kayak went well other than the DNF. Be advised that parking is on the street and it's at a premium. I was lucky to find a spot on the second time around. And when I left, I had people calling out their windows, asking if I was leaving... and this was on a weekday morning. I can only imagine how popular this is on the weekends.

Anyway, got the kayak into the water, and made the paddle over to the "reeds." Like others, I poked, prodded, and explored and got no results. It would be great if someone who HAS found the cache (or the owners, hint, hint) could check on it or come out with some of us DNFers to see if it's still there. Any takers?

This has been on my someday list since my first summer of caching. I GOT A KAYAK FOR MY BIRTHDAY! I really want to try this one but not sure based on the most recent logs. We'll see.
